Improving Quality of Life

Orofacial myofunctional therapy is a specialized treatment that focuses on improving the function of the jaw, lips, tongue and other facial muscles. This therapy can address a wide range of issues, including speech difficulties, breathing habits, tongue posture, and swallowing disorders. Suitable for both children above the age of four and adults, myofunctional therapy addresses symptoms indicative of myofunctional disorders. Signs of a myofunctional disorder may include:

  • Tongue thrust

  • Open mouth posture/mouth breathing

  • Tongue tie

  • Difficulty chewing and swallowing

  • Teeth clenching and grinding

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Snoring

  • Jaw pain or discomfort

By working with a trained therapist, patients can improve overall oral function, leading to better communication, improved breathing, and a higher quality of life. In-person and virtual options available.
